Thursday, September 5th

2:00 pm - Welcome and Refreshments

2:30 pm - Complete IP Management

In this session we will discuss the best practices for managing your intellectual property (IP) in a simple and organized manner, from patent basics to advanced uses of the IP functionality in Sophia. We will discuss the capabilities of Sophia’s full-service IP management including invoicing and docketing. In addition, we will cover a variety of other Sophia functionality such as IP copy/patent hierarchies, automatic USPTO/EPO updates, IP date rules, office actions, and email alerts.

3:15 pm - Contracts and Compliance

Executing an agreement takes a lot of time and effort. Inputting these contracts and tracking licensees shouldn’t. In this session, we will show you how to input agreement records and use workflow processes to track, manage, and follow-up with your licensees and partners.

4:00 pm - Break

4:15 pm - Reporting: Getting the most from your data

In this session, we will discuss different reporting tools in Sophia as well as which tool is the correct one for the job. From reporting on IP budgets to deal activities, we will learn how to create automated alerts and process reports. We will cover new features, discuss any new activities in your office, and address how Sophia can track and report them.

5:00 pm - Beyond Classic Knowledge Transfer

Knowledge Transfer takes many forms and requires that we manage a wide variety of projects and collaborations. This session will discuss how Wellspring software can be used to manage these programs, from accepting and rating applications, to tracking the value provided by the office, to reporting on the impact of our programs.

6:00 pm - Evening Reception in the Hilton Sky Lounge

We are delighted to invite all attendees to the conference to the evening reception, providing a fantastic networking opportunity for all in a relaxed environment at the end of Day 1 of our Amsterdam User Group 2019. Large and small TTOs monitor, make decisions and instruct upcoming patent, design and trademark renewals in a number of ways. This session will present and explore workflows and ideas to optimise IP renewals management based on the team and peers’ experience and the IPRIS integration.

10:15 am - Partnering Strategies

Tech transfer offices face a huge challenge to market and license their technologies better and more efficiently. Flintbox has been the place to market and license your technologies for years and it has recently received a major upgrade. Here, we will introduce you to an improved platform driven by market research with tech scouts where you can market your technologies, startups, and researchers straight from your office’s website in order to improve the quality and quantity of your partnerships.

10:45 am - Managing Startups and Impact Projects

We are all being asked for impact on our knowledge transfer activities. Perhaps no area has been more important for local impact than generating start-ups and funding tech development. This session will focus on managing your start-up portfolio, including leveraging your alumni network, demonstrating the value of the office in promoting your start-ups, and valuing the portfolio of companies your office helps launch.

11:30 am - Trends in tech transfer: What's on the horizon?

The knowledge transfer industry is evolving. There has been a move toward more ventures, gap funding, and startup support in the industry, and other sorts of non-classic IP management and licensing activities. In this session, we will look forward and discuss the new trends we’re seeing in technology and knowledge transfer as well as some best practices and solutions that have been coming about to address these changes. This session will include a breakout session.
