Accounting Manager

Position Summary:

Wellspring, a leader in innovation management software, is seeking an Accounting Manager. This is an opportunity for a Finance professional to make a meaningful contribution to a growing, Private Equity backed, SaaS software business that supports critical innovation at leading corporations, universities, and government laboratories. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position will interact with leaders across the company and help drive critical system upgrades and process improvements. A Chicago-based professional is ideal, but candidates in all US geographies will be considered for this remote / hybrid position.

Specific roles and responsibilities:

  • Participate in financial standards setting and forecast process
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivables
  • Produce error-free accounting reports for US and international entities
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide technical support and advice on Accounting Policies
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Assist in the development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant, ideally in a SaaS software company or experience as an audit professional at a recognized national firm working with technology companies
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience using NetSuite.
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting processes
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Awareness of business trends
  • Experience preparing financial accounting statements
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
  • Progress toward a relevant certification (e.g. CPA or CMA) will be preferred
